FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKIN’ IN

2007 Spring - i wrote this song when thinking about changes i wanted to make in my life, and realizing the ramifications for my husband and others that are close to me… “baby hold on….”

………………………………………….

BURNING COLD

2000 college - written at a time of intense struggle in my faith… a “dark night of the soul” experience for me, which birthed one of the darkest songs i’ve written. we could barely scratch the surface of this song with the recording, so what we offer is just a demo… there’s so much more to be added to the tones here.

recorded at Highest Praise Productions, Inc. (Fred McKinnon - Producer, Brian Morgan - Electric Guitar)

………………………………………….

NEVER

2000 college - this song came out of a dark deep time of my life, and accompanies much of what is said in “Burning Cold” even though the tone is more hopeful. college can be rough for many people, and was certainly full of falls for me. i had a high school reputation of being the “good girl”… unfortunately, i also had a college reputation of being the “good girl” - its amazing what you can get away with if you don’t attend the parties and stay behind closed doors.

recorded at Highest Praise Productions, Inc. (Fred McKinnon - producer)

………………………………………….

SOUTH OF HEAVEN

2007 Winter - just wanting to have a different life… and i mean, my gosh!, can you hear my country/gospel roots coming out in this song? the more i wrote, the thicker the southern drawl became!!!

………………………………………….

MAY GOD ARISE

Good Friday 2007 - probably the only “usable” worship song i’ve written so far… and this came as a prayer to see more of the Lord in my heart and in my life.

………………………………………….

SONGBIRD

2001 - a song about me, about rising above life, about how much i wanted the Lord to give me more songs to sing… this is my best friend’s favorite - its a happy song of sorts!

recorded at Highest Praise Productions, Inc. (Fred McKinnon - Producer, Instruments)

………………………………………….

A MOTHER’S SONG

Summer 1999 - i love my mom. although the “ballad” does not portray a true story, my mom did inspire the emotions and tone captured.

recorded at Highest Praise Productions, Inc. (Fred McKinnon - Producer)

………………………………………….

JUST A GIRL

summer 2001 - written at a time in my life where my public ministry was growing. its a song of humility and honor. yes, my blog title came from this song.

recorded at Highest Praise Productions, Inc. (Fred McKinnon - Producer)

Mandy- listening to all the songs now and have to say that I love “burning cold.” What ever happened to all the songs you wrote during your Wesley tenure, especially the song you sang with Kelly which began with a phrase about being off key and the music breaking down… I always loved that song and lost the tape I somehow managed to snag with some of your songs on it.
Also waiting on a follow up song to “just a girl” for us guys out there…
Lot’s of good work and your passion for Christ is very evident in the songs.

I love listening to your songs, Mandy. #6, I once wrote a song and performed it in public. It wasn’t anything I would repeat, though…and nothing to yours.

I like it!! I just have time for May God Arise today…and will listen to more soon. You have a bit of a Cindy Foote sound (do you know Cindy? She sings what her husband Billy writes.) and I love May God Arise!
Have such a great God-filled weekend.
    Love in Him,
    Holly

  19. 19 country musician March 4, 2008 at 10:43 am

I used to never listen to country music, but it’s changed. A lot of it is more mainstream and I like that. Plus the women are hot and that makes everything better!

  20. 20 mle08 March 5, 2008 at 11:19 pm

Wow. “Just a Girl” means a lot to me. I’m 18 and get lost between the girl I am and the one I want to outgrow!! “I’m just a girl…trying to solve the answers…” THANK YOU, Mandy!!

    Blessings,
    Emily Grace

Thanks for stopping by and saying HI! and thanks for the nice words about my pics.

South of Heaven is radical. You seem so natural in that folky/bluegrassy/country genre.

    Oh dear! You’re so good!
Very talented! I’m your newest fan! :-)
